PageGroup is celebrating its 10th anniversary in Türkiye. The company has played an important role in the development of the industry within 10 years with a professional approach to recruitment and consulting. Especially accelerated the integration of professional experience and systems of multinational corporations into the Turkish market. Also, helped introducing the European best practices from countries such as UK, France and Spain.
Local boutique companies were mainly based on acquaintances, which resulted in unprofessionalism. Whereas, the general tendency of multinational corporations is to have a more objective viewpoint between candidates and companies. It is very important to present the best candidates for the company after conducting analyses in the recruitment. The process of controlling and filtering the reference and experiences of the candidates is much more competent. Digital evolution has also changed the internal operating systems in recent years. 10 years ago, local actors and boutique companies, with the lack of multinational players, had managed recruitment and placement process in Türkiye. At most of the boutique companies 1-2 or 3 consultants were employed. Twenty-five consultants were employed in the largest 1-2 recruitment and consulting companies. After 10 years, we have a team of 80 people in Istanbul, consisting of nearly 70 consultants. This number is about 2-3 times of the local players. PageGroup is quite hopeful about the recruitment market in Türkiye. We are targeting to increase the number of consultants to reach 150 or 200.
Over the years, Türkiye has experienced significant changes in the approach to consult professional services in recruitment. However, companies with strong reputation and large HR departments tend to recruit by themselves. International companies from all sectors and medium small enterprises which are going through a process of renovation are more likely to seek professional support in the recruitment process in Türkiye. Companies that benefit from the services of recruitment and consulting firms, such as PageGroup, are able to go beyond their own business networks and evaluate candidates from a wider talent pool. During the 10 years PageGroup spent in Türkiye, the blockbuster has been Finance and Sales positions, while sectorial Healthcare, Banking or Retail went through very high peaks. Manufacturing and engineering fields are among the sectors that have the highest traffic in recruitment. Also business development and sales positions are quite popular.
In the constantly changing modern world, the expectation of the companies also varies according to the trends and conditions. Following the trend Turkish firms are preferring the candidates that are open for change, flexible, innovative, and capable of facing new challenges with high potential. Also, their education background, the schools they have graduated and foreign language competence are also decisive. Türkiye is very lucky in terms of young people, has a large young population, which is dominated mostly bilinguals. Considering the overall company expectancies, the most striking feature that companies recently demand from candidates is modern technology knowledge.
